About

Dr. Mayank Trivedi is the University Librarian (Professor Grade) and a Senate Member at Smt. Hansa Mehta Library, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. As University Librarian, he has contributed immensely to the overall development of the university. The H M Library was ranked among the top 20 libraries across India (INFLIBNET, 2013), and Smt. Hansa Mehta Library was ranked among the top ten best libraries in the nation in the India Today–Nielsen Survey (2016). He initiated the development of the Open Knowledge Gateway (OKG) and IR @ MSU.

Career & Experience

He began his career at Cadila Labs Ltd. as an Information Scientist. At the Cadila Research Centre, Ahmedabad, his first achievement was automating the R&D Library and transforming it into a state-of-the-art establishment, which gave him rich exposure to the corporate environment.

He later served as University Librarian & Publication Officer at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, where he was instrumental in renovating the library's infrastructure and improving its information services, and designed the web portal of the Bhaikaka Library.

Dr. Trivedi was instrumental in establishing a new Medical Library from the grass roots at CU Shah Medical College as per MCI norms. His professional grounding includes Pramukhswami Medical College (Karamsad), Government Dental College & Hospital, and M P Shah Medical College (Jamnagar).

He is a science graduate with a Diploma in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science, with exposure to several advanced training programmes on the application of IT to library management. He has visited several countries on various assignments.

Teaching, Open & Distance Learning

Dr. Trivedi has been actively involved in e-learning, content creation, Open Educational Resources (OER) and online lectures such as Omkar-e. Since 2015 he has contributed to open and distance learning as Co-ordinator of the Vadodara centre of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU), where he handles examinations, paper setting, counselling and teaching for all BAOU courses. Enrolment at the centre has grown tremendously, to approximately 20,000 students. He takes regular lectures for the BLISc and MLISc programmes, is associated with the PAC Committee at BAOU for BLIS and MLIS, and supervises research at Master's and Ph.D. level.

He has guided a number of students for BLISc, MLISc, MPhil and PGDCA across universities, and is a visiting faculty at various universities in Gujarat.

He has acted as Expert Member / Examiner / Committee Member for Indira Gandhi National Open University, BAOU, Gujarat University, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Sardar Patel University and C U Shah University, and as an examination paper setter for UPSC, MPPSC, GSET, PET and other competitive examinations. He has served as Conference Director, organizing committee member, keynote speaker, chief guest and resource person at many national and international conferences, orientation and refresher courses.
